Sister Mary Jude Lazarus honored at UACT Justice Celebration

June 10, 2014

Sister Mary Jude Lazarus was honored by United Action Connecticut at it’s 8th Annual Justice Celebration on June 10th which was held at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Center in Middletown.  The multi-cultural event by the inter-faith organization not only paid tribute to the tireless Director of Hispanic Ministry for the Diocese of Norwich, but also included a variety of ethnic dishes for dinner, musical entertainment by Angel Correa of the Hispanic Music Ministry of St. Mary’s, New London and a wonderful keynote speech by John Ryan of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Manchester.

Over one hundred people were in attendance and the theme of "connecting with each other" was highlighted by a daisy chain of prayers and hopes written by all of those that came to the dinner.

Father Paul Murdock of Saint Francis not only welcomed everyone to his parish, on behalf of UACT, but also did the honors of introducing Sister Mary Jude, with whom he worked at Sagrado Corazon in Willimantic for 16 years.

UACT annually has it’s Justice Celebration as a fundraiser and a way to celebrate it’s successes over the previous year.
